BNB Smart Chain

A BNB Smart Chain node costs storage, bandwidth, and time to run. It is built on a geth-equivalent EVM client, and the sync strategy you pick decides how much of each resource you spend and what data you end up holding. Choose poorly in one of two directions: burn terabytes of disk on history you never query, or under-provision and discover mid-project that the node cannot answer the historical-state calls your application leans on. BSC seals a block roughly every three seconds. The chain therefore grows fast, and both the initial sync and the steady-state disk footprint compound quicker than they would on a slower network. This guide helps a developer or operator decide which sync mode fits a given workload, how much storage to budget, and when self-hosting earns its keep against simply pointing at the managed bsc.therpc.io endpoint.
eth_call against old blocks, historical eth_getBalance, or trace/debug over BSC history, and budget for far larger storage.eth_syncing, the way the checkSyncStatus helper does, and chart current against highest block on your dashboard. Alert when the gap stops shrinking so a stuck sync surfaces before users feel it.
